My Favorite in Tahoe: Sand Harbor

Sand Harbor = A perfect day!

Sand Harbor is 2.2 miles south of Incline Village.

This place always amazes me because it is such a popular place, robust with children and adults scaling tall rocks, swimming in the icy water or sunning them self on the beach, yet it is also one of the most peacefulness and pristine places on earth!

Well known for its seasonal music and theater festivals including the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival held in July and August of each year, in this wonderful setting.

There are two sides of the beach; the boat beach and the swim beach. The swim side is boat free, with life guards. The boat beach is a great place to kayak from.

Or better yet grab a burger or bring a picnic lunch then climb aboard your own boat for a relaxing cruise around the lake and enjoy the wonder of crystal, blue waters reaching up to cobalt blue, snow-capped mountains and blue skies, contrasted by gray, granite rocks emerging out of the water and surrounding portions of the shoreline.

Plan to spend the entire day because you won’t want to leave once you get there.
